Mrs. Elsie L. Fields of 834 Miller St. (Blandford) Petersburg, VA. , entered into eternal rest on February 11,2012 in the River View on the Appomattox, Hopewell Va.
She was born in Sussex County, Va. to the late John and Rosa Providence. Elsie was educated in the Sussex County public schools and retired from Titmus Optical Petersburg, Va.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Langston Fields and one brother Russell Providence. She was a member of God Mission of Faith Ettrick, Va. where she was the Mother of the Church, Worship Leader, Missionary , sung in various Choirs along with the Ladies and Gent Choir. Elsie's favorite song was ”I am so glad my loving mother prayed for me.” She was very devoted to her Pastor, Rev. Virginia Graham and loved her church family, especially the youth.
Left to cherish her memory: two daughters , Lillie R. Draper (Ronnie Sr.) of Chester, VA. and Mable Harrison (Freddie) of Richmond, Va.;five grandchildren, Trenton Draper (Tami) of Powder Spring, GA., Ronnie Draper Jr. (Keida) Chester, Va., Terrance Draper (Kim) NC. , Marcus Draper, Richmond, Va. and Chiquita Wells Petersburg, VA.; one devoted sister-in-law, Minerva Davis, Stony Creek, VA.;four devoted cousins, Annie L. Peavy (Percy) of Jarratt, Va., Roberta Key, Emporia, VA., Lora Gray, Bronx NY and Minnie Jones, Stony Creek, Va., and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Home Going services for Mother Elsie L. Fields will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2012,10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of J. L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment 25824 Greensville Ave. Petersburg, Va. Rev. Virginia Graham officiating Pastor. Interment will follow in the Dinwiddie Memorial Park Cemetery, Petersburg, Va.
Viewing will be Friday, February 17, 2012 from 11:00am to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
