Mr. John Jefferson Andrews, Sr. “Johnnie” of 2178 County Drive, TT 27, Petersburg, VA, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg, Va.
John was born in Washington, DC to the late Loy Rathbone and Gladys Ford Dawson and was preceded in death by two brothers Harry Andrews and David Rathbone.
He was employed as an electrical groundsman.
John leaves to cherish his memories, a devoted daughter, Selena C. Andrews of Hopewell; one son, John J. Andrews, Jr. of Hopewell; his mother, Gladys Dawson (stepfather, Ray) of Rich Square, NC; four grandchildren, and other beloved family members to include aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday August 5, 2012, from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at J. L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment, 25824 Greensville Ave., Petersburg, Va.
A funeral service will be conducted on Monday, August 6, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of the J. L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment, 25824 Greensville Ave., Petersburg, Va. with Rev. Dr. Jeremiah Tillman, Pastor of the First Baptist Church, Harrison St. , Petersburg, Va. officiating.
Interment will be in the South Lawn Cemetery, 1911 Birdsong Road, Petersburg, Va. The family is asking that relatives, friends and pallbearers assemble at the funeral home at 10:45 a.m. on the day of the service.
