Ms. Sabrina Delores Ward, "Brina" aka "Sugar Mama", of 214 S. Sycamore St., Apt. 302, Petersburg, Va., passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2013, at Southside Regional Medical Center Petersburg, Va.
She was born to the late John Walker Sr. and Deborah Ward of North Chesterfield, Va. Brina was educated in the Petersburg Public School System, where she was a member of ROTC, and also received her education in Lynchburg Job Corps Center, Lynchburg, Va.
Sabrina was a member of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church of God In Christ Petersburg, Va. She was employed at Central Hospital, Petersburg, Va., as a Forensic Unit Nurse.
Sabrina had a big heart and smile. She loved to dance, sing,and work puzzles. Sabrina enjoyed her club, The Lady Panthers, where she was the co-founder.
She is preceded in death by her grandfather, David Brown; grandmother, Florine D. "Pig" Ward; brother, Dewayne Ward; uncle, Randy Ward; and grandmother-in-law, Dorothy Mae King.
Sabrina leaves to cherish her memories, her mother, Deborah Ward of North Chesterfield, Va.; two brothers, Christopher Hill Jr. of North Chesterfield, Va.,and John Walker Jr. of Ettrick, Va.; four sisters, Christal Hill and Evangelist Jackie W. Crawford (Carl), both of Petersburg, Va., Sarina Ward (Ivailo) of California, and Jennifer Butts (Jason Sr.) of Enon, Va.; great-grandmother, Inez Parham of Petersburg, Va; four aunts, Wanda Harris (Skip), Carolyn Blackwell (Clifton), Ceclic Brown, and Carla Jubilee, all of Petersburg, Va.; two uncles, Ronnie Ward and Timothy Ward (Consandra), both of Petersburg, Va.; stepfathers, Chauncey Woodson and Chris Hill Sr.; stepmother, Toni Clanton;living father; Lewis Edward Barnes; a host of nieces and nephews, one devoted, Alex, cousins, five devoted, Felecia Allred of Chesterfield, Va., Latecia Miller of Alexandria, Va., Clifton Harris and Travis Harris, both of Petersburg, Va. and Marcus Johnson (Bryna) of Chesterfield, Va.; and friends, three devoted, Careena, Bakesha King and Denise Peebles.
Home going services for Sabrina "Brina" Ward will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2013,1:00pm from the Trinity Missionary Baptist Church of God In Christ, 233 Halifax St., Petersburg, Va.; the Rev. Jeffrey L. Dodson Sr., Officiating. Interment will be in the Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, Va. Visitation will held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2013, and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at J.L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment, 25824 Greensville Ave., Petersburg, VA 23803.
