Rev. Gloria G. Smith (“Glo”), 62, passed away peacefully at Chippenham Medical Center on Friday, January 23, 2015.
Gloria was a graduate of Peabody High School, Virginia State University and Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was a former employee of the Petersburg Public School System, Wake County Schools and Shaw University in North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her parents, the late Robert L. “Smitty” Smith and Thelma A. Smith and a brother Linwood T. Smith all of Petersburg, Virginia.
She leaves to cherish her memory, six siblings, Lillian”Rose” Dabney of Chesapeake, Va.; Robert L. Lewis of Richmond, Va.; Joyce A. Smith and Teresa E. Smith both of Petersburg, Va.; Deborah K. Blake (Charles), of Fayetteville, NC.; and Sophia S. Martin of Dumfries, VA.; several nieces and nephews including Sharon Dabney, Ricky E. Lewis, Ricardo Dabney, Tameka L. Martin and Stephen E. Smith, along with several devoted friends from Harvest Renewal Church in Richmond, Va.
Celebration of life service for Rev. Gloria G. Smith will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Emmanuel Worship Center 236 Grove Ave. Petersburg, Virginia. Rev. Joseph P. Green, Pastor, Eulogist and Rev. Doug Watson, Pastor of Harvest Renewal Church Presiding, Richmond, Va. Interment will follow in Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery, Petersburg, Va.
. Remains will rest at the church one hour prior to service. The family is requesting that relatives and friends assemble at the residence of her sister Joyce A. Smith 327 S. Jefferson St. Petersburg, Va.; and Pallbearers will assemble at 10:45a.m. at the church on the day of the service.
A public viewing will be held Tuesday January 27, 2015 from 9am to 8p.m. at J. L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment.
