Our beloved mother, sister and grandmother, Ann Elizabeth Holcomb of 723 Texas Ave, Petersburg, Va., received the call from the Lord to come home. She answered His call on Thursday morning August 11, 2016 at the VCU Health System Richmond, Virginia passing peacefully while surrounded by her family.
She was born on November, 24, 1948 in Raleigh, North Carolina to the late Calvin Chavis, Sr. and Mary Chavis.
Ann was a member of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church of God In Christ Petersburg, Virginia where she served on the Ushers Ministry. She was dedicated to her Church and her pastor.
Ann was employed by Denny’s Restaurant in Hopewell Va. and later retired from there.
Her greatest love was her family. She was all about family! She had a huge heart and cared and loved everyone. She especially loved her grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband, John Holcomb; brother, Marland Chavis; sister, Rudy McLaughlin; great- grandson Malachi Holcomb; and niece, Sherice Chavis.
She leaves to cherish her memory, three devoted daughters, Jeanette Chavis (Mark Moore), Tracey Holcomb and Sophie Lyons ( James Lyons Sr.) sister, Marsha Wiggins (Gene); brothers, Bobby Chavis, Calvin Chavis Jr. (Phillis),Billy Chavis, and Lawrence Hargraves; grandchildren, Shequita Chavis (Kenneth Clanton), Mark Holcomb, Shamondray Chavis Sr., Octavian Holcomb, Taccara Chavis, Kiara Coats, James Lyons Jr. And Ke'Toya Lyons; great- grandchildren Janiya Bridges, Alexis Bridges, Iyana Holcomb, Shamondray Chavis Jr, Joy Harris,Cy'Asia Kirby, Jy'Kyra Chavis, Jy'Mira Sanders and Ja'cyon Chavis; sisters-in-law, Cassandra Jones, Paulette Allen, Paula Jones, Darlene Giles (Dallas Giles) and Gwen Jones; a host of nieces and nephews; and devoted friends, Tina Raines, Lillian Rose, Bessie Miller and Sharnei Miller.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ann E. Holcomb will be held at 2 p.m.on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church of God In Christ, 233 Halifax Street, with Rev. Jeffrey L. Dodson, Sr., Pastor, Officiating. Interment to follow at Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg Va.
A Wake Service will be held from 7-8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at the J.L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment.
The family will assemble at 1p.m. on the day of the service and receive friends at 723 Texas Ave. Petersburg, Va.
