Charlie L. Stewart, Jr.,"Dap,Lynn" 67, of 432 Deer Ridge Road, Spring Grove, Virginia departed this life on Friday, November 11, 2016 at John Randolph Medical Center, Hopewell, Virginia.
Charlie was born on January 6, 1949 to the late Charlie and Pearl Stewart of Surry County, Virginia. He graduated from L.P. Jackson in 1967. Charlie was a veteran of the United States Army having served four years of active duty and three years in the Army Reserve. Charlie later worked for Dominion Virginia Power where he retired after 29 ½ years. Along with being a member of the VFW of Hopewell, Va., Charlie was a lifelong member and Trustee at Abundant Life Christian Church in Spring Grove, Va.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Pearl Stewart.
Left to cherish memories of Charlie are his loving and devoted wife of 21 years, Maggie M. Stewart of Spring Grove, Va.; three daughters- always cherished in his heart- Carnita L. Stewart of Petersburg, Va., Patricia Williams Turner of Waverly, Va., and Mary Allen of Spring Grove, Va.; four sons, John Williams and Ronald Williams (Cheryl) of Spring Grove, Va., and Timothy Williams and Brevard Williams of Waverly, Va.; two sisters, Barbara King (Donald) of Petersburg, Va., and Mattlyn Debrick (Ferdinand) of Prince George, Va.; niece, Tonya Lovelace (Ricky) of Sterling, Va.; 19 grandchildren – several devoted which were around Charlie every holiday –Ollie Jr., Stephen, DJ, Desmond and Laquita; 15 great grandchildren- Papa’s kids – Lyric, RJ, Sanique and Harmony; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Devoted family and friends include James White, Louis Jones, William Hughes, Reginald Holloway and Kevin Butts.
Visitation for Mr. Stewart will be on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 from 7- 8pm and on Thursday, November 17, 2016 from 9:00am to 8:00pm.
Funeral services for Mr. Charlie L. Stewart Jr. will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 18, 2016 at Abundant Life Christian Church, 784 Cabin Point Road, Spring Grove, Va. with Pastor Leon Pettaway, Officiating. Interment to follow in the Abundant Life Christian Church Cemetery.
The family will assemble at 11:45 am on the day of the service and receive friends at 432 Deer Ridge Road, Spring Grove, Va.
