Mr. Leroy Cheatham, “Butch”, 67, of Petersburg, Virginia entered into eternal rest on December 4, 2016 at MCV Hospital Richmond, Virginia.
Leroy was born on July 1, 1949 to the late Roy A. Cheatham and Nora L. Cheatham.
He was educated in the Chesterfield County School System and was employed by J. R. Pierce of Colonial Heights, Va. and the City of Petersburg, Virginia.
Butch was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Cheatham, Robert Cheatham, Bruce Cheatham and Johnnie Cheatham.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his mother, Mrs. Nora L. Cheatham; seven sons, Charles A. Cheatham(Elizabeth), Antoine Jones (Joy), Raymond Washington (Cynthia), Andre Washington (Brenda), Herbert Washington (Ebony), Alonzo Washington (Rebecca), and David Yancey; two daughters, Melodie Webb Jefferson (Javonte), and Danielle Yancey; stepmother, Mildred W. Cheatham; five, brothers, Earnest, Stanley(Rose), David, Rodney and Roy, Jr.; eight sisters, Hattie, Doris, Linda (Greg), Brenda (Rev. Rufus), Wanda, Gloria, Phyllis, and Audrey; fifty grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends and a devoted brother-in-law, Rev. Rufus Strothers.
Funeral services for Leroy Cheatham will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2016, at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church of God In Christ, 233 Halifax Street, with Rev. Jeffrey L. Dodson, Sr., Pastor, Rev. Rufus Strothers, officiating. Interment to follow at Blandford Cemetery Petersburg, Va.
A Visitation will be held Friday, December 9, 2016 from 9am to 8p.m. at the funeral home.
The family is asking that relatives and friends assemble at 2:30 p.m. at 1325 Farmer St. Petersburg, Va., on the day of the service.
