Deaconess Mildred Mason

Mildred Virginia Mason, 88, of 119 Pine Street, Petersburg, Va. entered into eternal rest on Tuesday morning, February 13, 2018 at the residence of her daughter, Theetta M. Raynor in Portsmouth, Va.
Mildred was the daughter of the late Santee and Dorothy Mason, born on July 28, 1929 in Petersburg, Virginia where she attended public school.
She retired as a Dietician from Peabody Junior High School and Southside Regional Medical Center. Mildred was a faithful member of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church of God in Christ where she served as a deaconess, and was a member of the missionary ministry, pastoral care, and choir. She was a faithful member of the Electa Chapter #7 Order of Eastern Star PHA Petersburg Virginia, Loyal Ladies of Petersburg Assembly #144 and Most Royal Grand Court of Cyrene Petersburg Virginia.
Her daughter, Loretta L. Barlow and her great grandson, Mark M. Barlow, preceded Mildred in death.
She leaves to cherish memories of her, two daughters, Patricia Quickly of Petersburg, Va. and Theetta M. Raynor (Joshua) of Portsmouth, Va.; one son, James B. Mason Jr. of Petersburg, Va.; eleven grandchildren, Elder Anthony Mason (Roberta) of Hopewell, Va., Hope Williams (Norman) of Prince George, Va., Jimmies T. Barlow, Wilbur M. Barlow (Fanetta) both of Petersburg, Va., Patricia Wiggins (Jason) of Dinwiddie, Va., Antonio D. Mason (Latoya) of Tampa, Fl., Tyrone Barlow (Latonya) of Virginia Beach, Va., Malicca M. Skinner of Chesapeake, Va., Derrick Mason and Jeremy Mason of Petersburg, Va., and Michael Mason (Keya) of Chesterfield, Va.; twenty-two great grandchildren (one devoted, Marcus Barlow (Shawanda); fourteen great- great grandchildren (one devoted, Dequan Mason (Nia); seven great- great- great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives, friends, and a special god daughter, Yolanda Smith.
A public viewing will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2018 from 4:00P.M. to 8P.M. and on Friday, February 16, 2018 from 9a.m. to 8p.m. at the J. L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment.
A Celebration of Life service for Deaconess Mildred Mason will be held 12:00 Noon Saturday, February17, 2018 at the Trinity Missionary Baptist Church of God in Christ, 233 Halifax Street, Petersburg, Virginia with Pastor Jeffrey L. Dodson, Sr., Eulogist and Minister Marvin McKenzie, Officiating. Interment to follow at Dinwiddie Memorial Park Petersburg, Virginia.
The family will assemble at 10:45 a.m. on the day of service and will receive relatives and friends at the residence 119 Pine St. Petersburg, Va.
