On Wednesday, August 1, 2018, Sheila Lucinda Dodson Hunt peacefully transitioned into her eternal home at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital in Lynchburg, VA. She was born April 21, 1960 in Chatham, VA to Hilda Childress Martin and Raleigh Eugene Dodson. Sheila was educated in the Pittsylvania County School System. She spent the majority of her life employed as a geriatric healthcare specialist.

Sheila was a member of Greater Triumph Missionary Baptist Church where she actively and proudly served on the kitchen committee and sang in the mass choir.

Sheila enjoyed cooking, baking, being surrounded by family, and being mischievous. She was so humorous and honesty was her best policy.

She was preceded in death by one brother Timothy Wayne Dodson; one sister, Laura Ann Dodson; and step-father Otis Martin.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her mother, Hilda Childress Martin of the residence; her father, Raleigh Eugene Dodson of Chatham, VA.; one daughter, Shamika Dodson Long (James Sr.) of Dry Fork, Va.; one stepson, Lloyd Cunningham of Ringold, VA.; two grandchildren, James Long Jr., and Jamez Long, both of Dry Fork, VA.; one sister, Cynthia Dodson of Dry Fork, VA.; five brothers, Antonio Dodson (Nikki), and Charles Dodson (Robin) both of Dry Fork, VA., Raleigh Dodson and David Dodson (Judy) both of Danville, VA., and Carroll Dodson of Fort Dix, NJ; seven aunts, Loretta Childress of Dry Fork, VA., Margaret Roberston (Kenny), Carolyn Dodson, Sylvia Miller, and Elnora Childress, all of Chatham, VA., Queenie Gregory of Altavista, VA., and Alma Dodson of Danville, VA.; two uncles Joe Dodson of Java, VA., and Daniel Dodson (Violeen) of Chatham, VA.; her sister in love Teresa Gravely of Martinsville, VA.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends; and her special friend “Babe.”

Viewing for Sheila Dodson Hunt will be held on Monday, August 6, 2018 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Miller Funeral Home, 668 Zion Road, Gretna, Va. 24557.

Funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at 2:00pm at the Greater Triumph Missionary Baptist Church, 581 Fairview Road, Chatham, Va. 24531 Rev. Michael K. Ferrell Sr., Pastor, Eulogy, Rev. Sylvester Townes, Pastor, Officiating, Truth and Worship Outreach Ministries, Danville Virginia.  Interment will follow in the Greater Triumph Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
