Mr. Kenneth James Russell, Sr., 76, of 927 Priam Street transitioned from this life on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg Virginia.

He was born on June 4, 1942 and was a native of the Blandford area of Petersburg. He was educated in the Petersburg Public School System. At an early age, Kenneth joined the First Baptist Church Harrison Street, Petersburg Virginia.

 Kenneth was an avid baseball player and loved to play drums in his younger years. He enjoyed drawing and painting pictures of Jesus Christ and also enjoyed sewing as a hobby. These were some of his many pastime talents.  You could always find him walking or riding his bicycle through his neighborhood visiting his many family and friends. He will always be remembered by those whose lives he touched with his kind and warm conversations.

His parents, Mr. James (Jimmy) Henry Russell and Mrs. Grace Lee Moore Russell preceded Kenneth in death.

Surviving to remember and cherish his legacy are his beloved children; devoted son, Kenneth James Russell, Jr., (Tracie) of Richmond, Virginia, Angela Russell Harper of Colonial Heights, Virginia, Leslie Brown (Michael) of Chesterfield ,Virginia and Rosalind Bates (Eric) of Chesterfield, Virginia; grandchildren; great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at the First Baptist Church, 236 Harrison Street, Petersburg Virginia. Rev. Dr. Jeremiah Tillman, Pastor, Officiating. Interment will follow in the Blandford Cemetery, 319 South Crater Rd., Petersburg Virginia.

A public viewing will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2018 from 6:00p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday, November 2, 2018 from 9:00a.m. to 9:00p.m. at the J. L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment. Family and friends will assemble at the church at 12:30 p.m. day of service.
