Mr. Maurice "Reece" Drew, Sr.

On February 27, 2010, God called one of his angels home, Maurice “Reece” Drew, Sr. of 5220 Hillside Park Trailer #17 Disputanta, VA. He was born December 25, 1961 to William T. Drew and the late Lillian B. Butts Drew.
Maurice was a 1980 graduate of Sussex Central High School. He was employed with Masonite for 15 years and Advance Roofing for 12 years. Maurice was affectionately known as DJ Reece with M&M Disco. He is preceded in death by his mother; a brother Horace Short, Jr. and niece Laila L. Hill.
Maurice is survived by his wife Elizabeth “Becky” Boykins of Petersburg, a son Maurice Drew, Jr. of Newport News; three daughter, Roneeka Thompson of Wakefield, Michel’le Blackwell and Andreiona King both of Hopewell; his father William T. Drew, Jr. (Patricia) of Waverly, one granddaughter Lailonnie Kim Drew of Newport News, and one grandson O’Mahri Thompson of Wakefield; two brothers, Ronnie Drew of Missouri and Ulysses Drew of Waverly; one sister Kimberly Drew of Waverly; a loving godmother Margie Hill of Waverly; a loving godbrother Bobby Hill of Surry, two god-sisters, Monica Mason of Wakefield and LaToya Stewart (Donnell) of Prince George; three nieces, China Drew of Waverly and Ellyssia and Kiawanna Drew both of Wakefield; one nephew Untron Drew of Harrisonburg, PA, two aunts, four uncles and a host of cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held Friday, March 5, at 2PM in the Chapel at J.L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment, 219 N. County Dr. Waverly, with Bishop Marvin Drew officiating. Interment will follow in the Waverly Cemetery. Family and friends will assemble at 218 Dogwood St. Waverly, at 1PM the day of the service and may be contacted at 804-490-8154.
