On Sunday December 9, 2018, our hearts was saddened by the passing of our loved one, Mrs. Annie Irene Stith Squirrel.

Annie was born on February 15, 1937 to the late Virginia B. Williams. She received her education in the Petersburg Public School System.   Annie ‘s strong passion for helping people led her to become a volunteer with the Southern Christian Leadership Conference with Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King to break down racial barriers with her children, and led locally by the late Herbert Colton of Petersburg, Va. In the Blandford Community, Annie’s children were the only children walking picket lines, knocking on doors to help increase voter registration and going to meetings.

Annie accepted Christ at an early age and later on in life, she became an Evangelist. She rededicated her life to Christ and joined Trinity.

Along with her parents, Annie was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia B. Williams; former husbands, George Albert Squirrel and Willie Stith (William); sister, Pauline Neal; grandmother, Annie T. Booker; daughter, Norline P. Stith; son, Thaddeus Stith; and cousin, Rose R. Jones.

Annie leaves to cherish her memories daughters, Arlethia S. Garrison, Karen S. LaBoo (Jan), Gilvia S. Wilson, Andrea S. Jackson, and Gavonzella C. Squirrel; sons, Alphonso E. Stith (Yvonne), Adelious D. Stith (Carolyn) and Armus F. Stith; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends. Special thanks to Gloria Gray, Heartland Hospice and Minister Mary Tucker.

A public viewing will be held Thursday, December 13, 2018 6p.m. to 8p.m. and Friday, December 14, 2018 9a.m. to 9p.m. at J. L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment.

Funeral service for Mrs. Annie S. Squirrel will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2018 12:00 p.m. at the Trinity Missionary Baptist Church of God In Christ, 233 Halifax Street, Petersburg, Virginia 23803. Rev. Jeffrey L. Dodson, Sr. Officiating, Pastor. The family is asking that relatives and friends assemble at 4824 Woodstream Dr. N. Dinwiddie, Virginia 10:45am on the day of the service.
