Mr. James Madison "Bay Bay"Gray made his transition Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at the Bronx-Lebanon Hospital in Bronx, NY. He was born August 15, 1946 to the late Isaiah and Beatrice Gray.While he spent his formative years in Wakefield, VA, Bay Bay lived most of his adult life in Harlem, the soul of New York City. He retired from Essex House, where he was employed for several years in a variety of positions. Bay Bay accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age at Union Hill United Church of Christ. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Beverly Gray and nephews Shawn and Leslie Gray, all of whom lovingly embraced him when he reached the other side.He is survived by his wife, Mildred Dinkins-Gray; three sons, James, Clyde and Travis Gray; one daughter, Angela Gray-Smith (Tony); two brothers, Ronald Gray (Floristine) of Texas, and Michael Gray of Wakefield; four sisters, Shirley White, Audrey Payne (Hugh) and Lora Gray all of Wakefield, and Mary Cofer (Lenny) of Columbus, OH; three brothers-in-law, Jerome and Ronald Dinkins of New York and Ben Dinkins of Washington, DC; three sisters-in-law, Ruth Evon Dinkins-Eastman, Gilda Dinkins and Anna Dinkins of Long Island, NY; two aunts, Bertha Gray of Wakefield and Laurice Johnson of Petersburg, a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends, among them special friends Thomas Mosely and Charlie Hodges of New York.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 29, at 1PM in the chapel of J.L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment, 219 N. County Dr. Waverly, 804-834-3330 with Pastor Breon Perry, officiating. Interment will follow at Union Hill United Church of Christ, 16192 Union Hill Rd, Sedley. A visitation will be held Friday, May 28 from 6 - 8 PM at the funeral establishment.
