Ms. Rosetta "Puddin" Newby, 73, of 15 Old Church St. Claremont, VA departed this life Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg, VA. She was born November 23, 1937 to the late William G. and Anna Robinson Newby. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Claremont, VA, until her health declined. Ms. Newby was a graduate of L.P. Jackson High School and was employed as an Instructional Assistant at L.P. Jackson Middle School in Dendron. She is preceded in death by her parents and seven siblings, Ernest, Earl, William, Jr., Curtis, Gertrude, Lorena, and a stillborn.

She leaves to cherish her memories a daughter Debra Ann Moore; two brothers, Harold Newby (Mildred) of Manhattan, NY and Wesley Newby (Susan) of Waverly; three sisters, Lovella Newby Williams (Carl) of Matoaca, Patricia Newby Lucas, of Hamlet, NC, and Arnetta Newby Perrin (Arthur) of Norfolk. A host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday June 12 at 1PM at First Baptist Church, 141 Old Church St. Claremont with Rev. Joseph Elliott officiating. Interment will follow in the Waverly Cemtery. Viewing will be Friday June 11 from 1 - 7PM at Lily of the Valley Deliverance Center, 411 Oak St. Waverly.
