Carrie Inez Stone

( May 22, 1955 - April 22, 2020 )

On Wednesday, April 22, 2020 at Sovah Health in Danville VA, our beloved, Carrie Inez Stone departed this life suddenly.

Inez was born on May 22, 1955 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia to the late George Washington Minter Sr. and Dorothy Ran Keen Minter.

During her life, she attended Pittsylvania County Schools until she was unable to attend because of her sickness.

Inez was baptized at Callands Missionary Baptist Church and later moved her membership to Baptist Christian Fellowship Ministries under the leadership of Rev. Dr. William Dixon.

Inez loved to play cards and cook - especially that bread we will miss. She was a loving person. Everybody was family, and nobody would be hungry or left out in the cold if she could help it.

Inez was the mother, grandma, aunty, and friend to a lot of people. When you had no one else to call on for help, she was there. She was an avid member of the usher board at Baptist Christian Fellowship Ministries despite her disability.

Inez was preceded in death by her parents, George Washington Minter Sr. and Dorothy Ran Keen Minter; sister, Dorothy Tarpley (Fred); brother, Gilbert Ray Minter, and husband, Willie Henry Stone.

Those left to cherish her memories are three children, James Stone, Barry Stone and Coretta Stone, all of Danville Va; one brother, George Minter, Jr. (Joyce Ann Nibblette) of Danville, Va; one sister, Patricia Pool (Arthur) of Danville Va; a very special friend, Kenneth Townes of Danville, Va; 12 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A viewing will be held on Monday, May 4, 2020 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the Chapel of the J.L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment – Danville, Virginia.

Celebration of Life service will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at 1:00pm at Callands Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, 1097 Strawberry Rd., Chatham, Va. 24531 with Rev. Dr. William Dixon, Pastor, Presiding, Rev. Jeffrey L. Dodson, Sr., Eulogizing.

The family is asking relatives, friends and pallbearers to assemble at 11:45am on the day of the service at the funeral home.

Professional funeral services have been entrusted to the staff of the J.L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment, 447 Old South Main St. Danville, Va., Rev. Jeffrey L.
