Celebrating the life of Minister Lenore Rosena Wise-Reed

Lenore Rosena was born on August 29, 1939 in Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, New York City.  She was the second girl and the third child born to the union of Rev. John Melvin and Rosena Brewington, died July 8, 2006. Natalie Miles, her youngest sister, resides in California.  

Lenore graduated from Washington Irving High School in NYC and married soon afterwards to Leonard Wise.  From their union they were blessed with two sons, Leonard Lamont Wise and Troy Michael Wise. Lenny died in 1991 and Lenore re-married her second husband, Grant Reed in 1980. Grant transitioned in 1995.

Lenore loved to sing and was a member of the Abyssinian Baptist Church and sang in the Young People’s Choir.  She also loved to play hymns on the piano.  Upon leaving New York, Lenore lived in Atlanta, Georgia. Her remaining years were spent in Newport News, Virginia, where she lived with her youngest son Troy and his family.

All during her life she continued to be an active church and choir member at various churches both in Atlanta, GA and Newport News, VA.

Lenore also studied for the ministry and received certificates in Counseling and Ministerial Education and Covenant Partner Certificate. She hosted regular prayer groups in her home.

Recently, Lenore was shocked and saddened by the sudden death of her eldest son, Leonard Lamont Wise, who departed this earth on July 14, 2020.  

The family continues to mourn for Lamont and now for their beloved Lenore who has found eternal rest and relief from her pain in the everlasting arms of the Lord.

She leaves to mourn, her beloved son, Troy Wise; sister, Natalie Miles.; her niece, Kindel Miles; her cousin, Clara W. Lamback; daughter-in-law, Michelle Wise; grandchildren, Shanequa, Damien, Shakur, Emoni, Brittany, Talia, Tiffany and Maia; great grands, Gabriella, Olivia, Damien Jr., Tionna, Da’Nyla, Sir-Paris, Damari, Shakur Jr., Sariah, Kyler, Trinity, A’Jaya and Miles; and many cousins, friends and extended family members, who have shown an abundance of love, support and caring in this time of sorrow.

Viewing for Lenore Wise Reed will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at 10:00am at the House of Judah Deliverance Center, 3806 Roanoke Avenue, Newport News, Virginia followed by Celebration of Life service at 11:00am.
