Christopher Lewis Martin gained his wings on Monday, January 11, 2021. He was born in Danville, VA to Uthel Scott Martin and Pamela Yvette Martin.

Christopher had an amazing loving personality. He loved going to church and praising God. Whenever he wasn’t sick or in the hospital, Christopher made sure he could attend Celestial Deliverance Holiness Church on Sundays to give all his praises to God and beat that tambourine like his mother. His favorite scripture was Psalm 23- “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; he leadeth me beside the still waters”….

Although Christopher was disabled and battled with his health most of his life, he was a fighter. He was one of the strongest men living. Christopher did not give up. He continued to fight as long as he could, for his family. We may think he lost the battle, but Christopher won the fight.

Christopher was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Lawer Thomas; his maternal grandparents, Elder Harvey Venable and Jean Venable; uncles, Tyrone Millner and Ray Barksdale, Adrian Ferguson; aunt, Shirley Ferguson.

In addition to his parents – Uthel and Pamela Martin, and grandmother- Clara Martin, Christopher leaves memories to three brothers and one step brother, Fabian Martin, Scott Venable, Harvey Martin and Rashon Hairston; a very special cousin who was more like a brother, Jacolby Starling; aunts and uncles, Bonita Hairston (Frank), Jeanette Millner, Sentry Barksdale, Faye Stokes (Ben), Bernice Venable (Richard) and Loraine Anderson (Michael); eight nieces and nephews, Zashawn Martin, Damya Martin, Zytavius Martin, Ny’Asia Mays, Amir Venable, Skylar Venable, Harmonie Murphy and D’Areon Martin.; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Viewing for Mr. Christopher Martin will be held on Sunday, January 17, 2021 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the J.L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment – Danville, Virginia.

Celebration Of Life Service For Christopher Martin will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at 1:00pm at Floral Hill Memorial Gardens, 1665 S. Boston Road, Danville, Virginia 24540. Pastor Joseph Reynolds, Officiating, Eulogist. The family is asking that relatives and friends assemble at the cemetery at 12:45 PM day of service.

Masks are required at all visitations and services. All attendees are also asked to follow social distancing guidelines.
