On Sunday, August 22, 2021, our Beloved Sentry Jean Barksdale departed this life to be with her Heavenly Father.

Sentry Jean Barksdale  was the daughter of the late Elder Harvey A. Venable and Jean C. Venable.

She started her sewing career at Dan River Mills where she was employed for 20 years.

Sentry always put her family first and always exhibited unconditional love to all. She would always encourage her family by letting them know that the power of prayer and faith would get you through any situation.

She was predeceased by a sister, Shirley Ferguson.

She will be greatly missed and leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, Ryan Venable and Tory Venable, one daughters, Pamela Barksdale; two grandchildren that were like a son and daughter, Tamela and Steeller;Dejoun Jone Joness, D'Ivana Venable, Monisha Venable, Cessily Venable, Deontae Venable and Ambria Harris; five sisters, Jeanette Millner, Faye Stokes, Lorraine Anderson, Pamalre Martin and Bernice Venable.

Celebration of life service for Mrs. Sentry Jean Barksdale will be held at 3:00p.m. on Satursday, August 28, 2021 at the J.L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment – Danville, VA

Viewing for Mrs. Sentry Jean Barksdale will be on Friday, August 27, 2021 from 5pm to 8pm at the J.L.Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment – Danville, VA.

Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home on the day of the service at 2:45p.m.
