Ester Beard Stephens, affectionately known as “Sis”, was born on February 19, 1945 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia to the late Charlie L. Beard and Winnie F. Beard. She departed this life early Friday, January 7, 2022 at Sovah Hospital, Danville Virginia.

Ester was educated in the Pittsylvania County School System. She was a faithful member of the St. John’s One Accord Holiness Church under the leadership of Pastor Jasper Beard until her death.

Ester was joined in matrimony with the late Thomas (Mike) Stephens. The union was blessed with one son, Thomas Stephens Jr. (Tommy).

In addition to her parents, Ester was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Stephens; her son, Thomas Stephens, Jr.; four sisters, and six brothers.

Ester is survived by two sisters, Helen B. Polson (Derrick) and Judith B. Totten both of Danville, Va.; four brothers, James A. Beard (Gay), Uleys J. Beard (Arbedella), Lawrence E. Beard (Debra) and Jerry W. Beard (Juanita) all of Danville, Va.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Celebration of life service for Mrs. Ester B. Stephens will be held on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at 3:00 P.M. at the Chapel of J. L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment- Danville Virginia. Bishop Pastor Jasper Beard of St. John’s One Accord Holiness Church Danville Virginia, Officiating.

A public viewing for Mrs. Ester B. Stephens will be on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 from 6:00pm to 7:00pm at the J.L Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment-Danville.

The family is asking that relatives and friends to assemble at J. L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment Danville, Virginia at 2:45 P.M. on the day of service.
