Honoring our beloved Father, Husband, Brother, Uncle, Grandfather, and Dear Friend -Raymond Lee Saunders

 

Raymond departed this life on Sunday July 3, 2022 in Danville, VA.

 

He was born on December 29, 1954 the son of the late Nathaniel Saunders, Sr. and Kathleen Saunders. He was also the grandson of the late Dillard and Frances Saunders and Martha Murphy.

 

Raymond, also known as “Unk”, was educated in the Danville City school system. He later became a handyman around the city.

Raymond was the funniest person you could ever meet. He sang every chance he got and told plenty of jokes.  If you knew him you knew his favorite line was “What you got for me? “

Raymond leaves to cherish his memories, his mother, Kathleen Saunders; his sons, Jerod and Shawron Saunders; his grandchildren, Dallas and Valentina Saunders; his brothers, Nathaniel Saunders, Darrell Murphy and Jarrell Murphy; his sisters, Shirley Saunders, Debra McLaughlin and Willerdean Saunders; his aunts, Earlene Harris, Kay S. George, Carol S. Mitchell and Laura S. Barber (James); a very special niece, Jamiyah King; and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. 

Celebration of Life Services for Mr. Raymond L. Saunders will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at the J. L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment - Danville, Virginia 24541, with Rev. Ke’Aunte Clements, Assoc. Minister, Bennett Memorial Baptist Church Danville, Virginia, Officiating and Rev. Jonathan King, Pastor, Pleasant Chapel Baptist Church Sutherlin, Virginia, Eulogist.

A public viewing will be held Friday, July 15, 2022 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the J. L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment- Danville VA.

The family is receiving relatives and friends at the residence 132 Levelton St. Danville Virginia and is asked to assemble at 11:45 a.m. on day of service at the Funeral Establishment.
