James Andrew Johnson, Jr. of Danville, Virginia entered into eternal rest on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Carillion Roanoke Memorial Hospital Roanoke Virginia.

He was born on May 10, 1963 in Danville, Virginia.  He was the son of the late James A. Johnson, Sr. and Adell Bowe, who survives.

He attended Danville Public Schools.  He was employed at Kentucky Fried Chicken and Southern Processors Incorporated.

James was a member of the Three Angels Message SDA Church, where he volunteered at the food bank.  He was also a part of the church’s basketball team.

James leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted mother, Mrs. Adell Bowe and stepfather, Leon Bowe of Danville, Virginia; one brother, Robert Simpson of  Richmond, Virginia; three sisters, Ella Mae Simpson of Danville, Virginia, Mary Jackson (Bernard) of Petersburg, Virginia and Barbara Johnson of Los Angeles, California; his favorite niece, Jocelyn E. Jackson of Petersburg, Virginia; he was a surrogate father to Kimberly and Allen Farmer.  He will be greatly missed by his many friends in the Alma Grove in Danville, Virginia, as well as, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  James will be remembered for his outgoing and kind hearted personality.

Celebration of Life Services for Mr. James Andrew Johnson, Jr.  will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 5, 2023 at Three Angels Message Seventh-Day Adventist Church 541 Keen Street Danville, Virginia 24540, Pastor Glenn Allen, Officiating, Eulogist.  Interment to follow in the Highland Memorial Park 3049 North Main St. Danville Virginia.

 A public viewing will be held Thursday, May 4, 2023 from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the J. L. Dodson and Sons funeral Establishment- Danville VA.

 Mr. James Andrew Johnson, Jr.,  remains  will rest in the  church one hour prior to service.

The family is receiving relatives and friends at the residence 138 Ross St. Danville, Virginia 24541  and asked to assemble at 12:45 p.m. on day of service.
