Mr. William Arthur Wells, Sr., entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at his residence.

He was born December 29, 1954, in Halifax County, Virginia to the late King and Martha Holt Wells.  William worked in the field of construction for a number of years.  He loved spending his leisure time with his family and friends. He enjoyed making his family and friends laugh while making sure he was having a teachable moment.  Always leaving us with bits and pieces of knowledge.  Known to be a soft-spoken man and being the smooth slick talker gained him the nickname, “Sweets,” in the streets.

William was preceded in death by his parents, King and Martha Holt Wells; one sister, Sandy Wells; two brothers, Freeman Wells and King Wells, Jr. and his oldest son, William Arthur Wells, Jr.

Those left to cherish his memory, a son, Don Wells; a daughter, Shannon Williams (Jonathan); two brothers, Warren Wells and Conway Wells; three sisters, Robin Wells, Roberta Wells and Silvia Joyner; grandchildren, Rakeem, Das’ja, and Dayshawn Wells, Eric, Jayla and DeAngelo Warren; great grandchildren, Harmoni Hill, Zoey and Zendaya Warren, Di’meir Damarion, Kylie and Skylar Wells; a devoted nephew, Ced; his girlfriend, Chloe; a close childhood friend, Darryl Fitch; not to mention a long list of nieces, nephews, friends and other family members.

A Celebration of Life for Mr. William Arthur Wells, Sr. will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at J. L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment, 447 Old South Main Street, Danville, Virginia.  Ms. Yolanda Wells, Eulogist.

Interment will be at New Arbor Baptist Church, 14131River Road, South Boston, Virginia 24592

A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service.  The family is asked to assemble at 12:50 p.m. at J. L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment on the day of the service.

The family is receiving family and friends at the residence, 128 Hartford Street, Danville, Virginia.
