Ms. Janel Totten entered into eternal rest on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at Sovah Health in Danville, Virginia.

Janel was the daughter of the late Jerome Saunders and Judy Totten. She was born in Danville, Virginia on October 28, 1976.  Janel attended Danville City Schools and was last employed at Walmart.  She was preceded in death by her grandparents Dorsey Williams and Eva Saunders.

Janel enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.  

She leaves to cherish her memories a daughter JaKera Wagstaff; two sons, JaRon Totten and Ja’Quan Wagstaff; her mother, Judy Totten; three sisters, LaShunta Daye, Shemeska Totten and Sheronica Richardson; two brothers, Daniel Totten and Tramaine Richardson; one brother in law, Draper Daye; maternal grandparents, Nathaniel and Elsie Johnson; grandchildren, JaRon Totten, Jr and De’Arra Wingfield; nieces, Niairah Davis, and Briell Gatewood; nephews Nizyair Abbott, Nyimajah Davis and Quadarrius Richardson; a special friend Kenyatta Reid and a host of  other grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Celebration of Life service will be held at 12 noon on Friday, October 11, 2024, at Bennett Memorial Baptist Church, 165 Levelton Street, Danville, Virginia. Rev. Voight Hairston, Pastor is the eulogist and Rev. Ke Aunte Clements, Presiding.

A public viewing will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at J. L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment, 447 Old South Main Street, Danville, Virginia 24541 from 5 pm – 7pm.

The family is asked to assemble at the church at 11:45 am on the day of the service.
