With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved son, André (Dre) Malik Cox, who entered the world on October 20, 1998, and left this world too soon on October 21, 2024. 

Dre was a graduate of Coatesville Area Senior High School’s Class of 2017 and relocated to Hopewell, Virginia with his mother, Waynette, in December 2022. Dre loved to draw, and his artistic talent shone through in the pieces he created.

 Dre’s life will continue on in the memories and hearts of his mother, Waynette Carter-Cox, his father, Arthur Cox, two sisters: Yaasmiyn Alston of Coatesville, PA, and Alicia Cox of West Chester, PA, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and cousins. 

Dre was a shining light in our lives, known for his kind and gentle nature, and creative expression through art. Though his struggles with mental health ultimately took his life, we cherish the memories of his beautiful smile, the unwavering and deep love he shared with his family. He will forever be in our hearts.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024 one hour prior to service at J. L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment Petersburg Virginia.

Celebration of life service for André (Dre) Malik Cox  will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024 1:00 pm, at J. L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment Petersburg, Va., 23803 Bishop Vincent Harris, Cathedral Deliverance Ministries Richmond Virginia, Pastor, Officiating.  The family is asking that relatives and friends assemble at the funeral home on day of service at 12:45 pm.

The Family will receive relatives and friends at the residence.
