Mr. Eligah Garland Motley

( November 16, 1969 - March 17, 2026 )

Mr. Eligah Garland Motley entered eternal rest on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at Duke Hospital in Durham, North Carolina.

Eligah was the son of the late Mr. Eligah Garland and Ms. Rosa Ann James, who survives.  He was educated in the Danville Public School System.  He was a member of Hickory Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He was married to Pastor Crystal Pritchett Motley, who survives.

To know Eligah was to love Eligah.  He never met a stranger and enjoyed spending time talking and laughing with whomever he came in to contact with.  He was the type of person that would give you the shirt off of his back.  His love language for his family and friends was his cooking.  It was nothing for him to prepare a meal for his family and friends and watch the joy he expressed while you ate your meal.

Eligah enjoyed life and wanted everyone around him to enjoy life to the fullest.  He was a skilled poker player, and everyone knew that he was a die-hard Dallas Cowboy and Boston Celtics Fan.  He loved to dress and flash that million-dollar smile that will truly be missed.

Eligah leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Pastor Crystal Pritchett Motley; his mother, Ms. Rosa Ann James; two daughters, Mrs. Danyelle Irby (Justin) and Ms. Talia Motley; four sons, Mr. Keymontwan Motley, Mr. Eligah Motley (Boo), Mr. Eli-Shalon Motley (Baby) and Mr. Eliyah Motley (Pookie Man); three sisters, Mrs. Ellisah Saunders (Adrian), Ms. Patrice Price and Ms. Te’Sharwda Waddell; two brothers, Mr. Antonio Johnson and Mr. Jamie James; four bonus children, Pastor Michael Pritchett, Elder Christopher Pritchett, Mr. Anthony Pritchett and Mrs. Laurann Towler; five sisters in law and five brothers in law; a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
