Ms. Charlotte Kaye Griffin

( August 6, 1963 - October 3, 2026 )

As God, in His infinite wisdom, has called another one of our Angels to her heavenly resting place, Ms. Charlotte Kaye Griffin, 63, of 235 Crater Woods Ct., passed suddenly on October 3, 2026, at Commonwealth Senior Living in Richmond, Virginia.

She was born in Richmond, Virginia, on August 6, 1963, to the late Claiborne Griffin and Grace J. Griffin. She was also preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Richard and Fanny Jackson; beloved aunt, Lucille Johnson; brother, Warren Kent Griffin; sister, Barbra Ann Griffin; and niece, Renee Griffin.

Charlotte was raised in Petersburg, Virginia, where she graduated from Petersburg High School, Class of 1981. She continued her education at Virginia State College (VSU), where she received numerous educational degrees and awards.

Charlotte remained a lifelong resident of Petersburg, where she spent countless hours reading and inspiring others while pursuing her lifelong dream of becoming an educator. Her very first pupil/student was her younger brother, Michael. She fulfilled this dream by becoming a dedicated and devoted educator in the Petersburg Public School System for 43 years.

She was a generous person with a kind heart who never met a stranger. Charlotte also enjoyed traveling with her family and friends to different islands, states, and countries. She loved reading and teaching, and she had an infectious smile. The number of hearts and minds touched by Charlotte is immeasurable. Her colleagues and students throughout the Petersburg Public School System and surrounding areas loved her dearly. She will truly be missed.

Charlotte is survived by her two loving and devoted brothers, Donald W. Griffin, Sr., and Michael S. Griffin; sisters-in-love, Lany Griffin and Tammy Griffin; cousins, Thelma Johnson and Wilbert Johnson; nieces, Daneka Afolabi, Tamara Griffin, and Philicia Griffin; nephew, Donald Griffin, Jr.; one devoted friend, Ms. Jamie Brown; and a host of other cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

The Griffin family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Nursing Staff of Commonwealth Senior Living, Richmond Va., for all the kindness and caring attentiveness they extended to Charlotte during her period of declining health.
