On Saturday, July 25, 2020, God called our dear mother and grandmother to heavenly rest. She leaves behind a legacy of faith and strength. Aggie Nora Bridges Pouncy was born on November 15, 1938 in Marlboro County, South Carolina to the parentage of the late Simmie Bridges, Sr. and Mary Kate Bridges. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Clio, South Carolina where she was voted vice president of the Class of 1957. She went on to marry Willie Pouncy and to this union 10 children were born.
Full of life and laughter, Aggie never met a stranger. She found a special place in the hearts of everyone she encountered. She was a strong woman who endured many obstacles but through faith persevered every time. Her son, Willie Pouncy; grandson, Aaron Spruill; and five siblings all preceded her in death.
She leaves precious memories to five daughters, Patty Pouncy, Kembala Pouncy, Pammy Pouncy and Tonja Pouncy all of High Point, NC and Joann Southern of Greensboro, NC; four sons, Aubrey Pouncy of Durham, NC, Daron Pouncy of Thomasville, NC, Dexter Pouncy of High Point, NC and Jonah (Renee) Pouncy of Greensboro, NC; three sisters, Beulah Brown and Maggie Butler of High Point, NC and Annie Hayes of Jamaica, NY; twenty-three grandchildren ; and a host of great-grandchildren, relatives and friends.
Viewing for Mrs. Aggie Pouncy will be held on Friday, July 31, 2020 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at the J.L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment – Danville, Virginia and from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Hilliard Memorial Baptist Church, 2311 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262.
A Drive in Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Pouncy will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at Hilliard Memorial Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Guil-Rand Memorial Park, 6901 Appletree Road, High Point, NC.
The family is asking relatives and friends to assemble at her daughter's residence, Tonja Pouncy, on the day of service at 11:45a.m.
