Daniel E. Hill "Danny Boy"

On Friday, July 30, 2021, Mr. Daniel “Danny Boy" Hill entered into eternal rest at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg Virginia. He was born in Dinwiddie, Virginia on March 22, 1958 and was the son of Milton and Louise Hill.

Daniel was educated in the Dinwiddie Public School system, graduating in the Class of 1976. Daniel was employed at Brown and Root for about 10 years and started at BFI which is now called Republic Services, where he was employed for 31 years. He was a loving and caring father, son, brother and uncle who will truly be missed. We will especially miss hearing him say, “that ain’t right.”

Daniel was preceded in death by his father, Milton Knott Hill; wife, Joyce Hill; mother-in- law, Joyce Mason; and brother –in-law, Wade Mason. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Marmora Baptist Church.

Daniel leaves to cherish many memories, daughters, Nicole Hill and Korwana Pope; son, Kenneth Pope Jr. (Leticia); mother, Mrs. Louise Hill; father-in-law, Mr. William Mason; sisters, Gail Taylor ( Ernie), Sharry Carpenter (Al), June Knox (Howard) and Valerie Tucker, one brother, Charles Hill (Roberta); grandchildren, Travis, KVaughan, and Kymon Pope; nephews, Lamont (Tia), Carl Terell, Wilburt, Klay and Troy Jr; nieces, Syreeta, Teri and Tamika (Anthony); special friends, Ernest Taylor, Warren Bland, Zina Gaines, Republic Service (BFI) coworkers and Cynthia Mallory; special cousin, Hoover Greene; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A public viewing for Mr. Daniel E. Hill will be on Friday, August 6, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00p.m. at the J.L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment, 25824 Greensville Avenue, Petersburg, Virginia.

Celebration of life service for Mr. Daniel E. Hill will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 12:00p.m. at the Mount Olivet Baptist Church, 800 Augusta Ave., Petersburg, Virginia 23803. Rev. Dr. Wesley K. McLaughlin, Senior Pastor. Rev. Judy Evertt, Officiating and Rev. Dr. Herbert W. Anderson, Interim Pastor, Marmora Baptist Church, Church Road, Virginia, Eulogizing. Interment to follow in the Marmora Baptist Church Cemetery 2901 Exeter Mill Road Church Road Virginia 23833.

Family and friends are asked to assemble at the residence of his sister, Sharry Carpenter (Al) 3721 Ferndale Circle North Dinwiddie Virginia on the day of the service at 10:45am.
