Derrell White

Mr. Derrell Maurice White, affectionately known as "DEE", took flight on July 10, 2020. Derrell was born on July 26, 1981 in Petersburg, Virginia to Darlene Michelle Thomas and Barry E. Jackson. He accepted Christ at an early age, but later joined The Saint Paul's Baptist Church, Elm Campus, in Petersburg, Virginia under the leadership of Dr. Lance D. Watson, Sr., Pastor and Campus Pastor Rev. Jamie Duncan.

To his family he was known as "Rell”. To his friends he was known as “DEE". Derrell was a young man of many talents, but cooking was his specialty. He was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan. He loved laughing and hanging with his friends that he would always call his family.

Derrell was preceded in death by his grandmother, Sallie M White and sister, Shronda White.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Ms. Darlene M. Thomas (Al); seven children, Kayla White, Trejohn Jones, Derrell Jones, Sylisa Jones, Jawaun White, Jada White, and Tanaya Jones, all from the Tri-City area; two sisters, Jawanda Bugg (Randolph) of Dinwiddie, VA, Natasha White of Petersburg, VA; two brothers, Andre Scott and Mario Shelton both of Petersburg, VA; grandfather, Lenward White of New Jersey; god-brother, Jah’hainess Thomas of Petersburg, VA; aunts, Valeria D. Brown (Richard) of Prince George, VA; and Tracey White of Richmond, Va.; great aunt, Joyce Scott (Melvin) of Petersburg, VA; three uncles, Antonio E., Clinton L., and Theodore White all of Petersburg, VA; one niece and nephew, Jakaya and Jahhiem White of Prince George, VA; two god- children Amira and Amon; the mothers of his Children, Ms. Bianca Webb and Ms. Tawanda Strothers both of Petersburg VA.

Derrell had many cousins that he loved, to include Andre Scott Jr, Anasia, Tyquaun, Derazz, Eugenia, Taijarae, Shawn, and Shanika; along with his devoted friend, Tamika Thweat and his extended loved ones, the Prosise, Thomas and Jones families; along with a host of other relatives and friends.

A public viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 from 12:00 P.M. to 9:00p.m. at the J. L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment.

A graveside celebration of life service for Derrell M. White will be held 1:00P.M. Thursday, July 23, 2020 at Blandford Cemetery, 319 South Crater Rd. Petersburg, Virginia 23803, Rev. Constance Hollemon, Officiating , St. Paul’s Baptist Church Petersburg, Va.   The family is asking that relatives and friends assemble at the residence of his mother, 1800 Randolph Ave. Petersburg, Va., at 11:45 a.m. on the day of the service.

Masks are required at all viewings, visitations and services. All attendees are also asked to follow social distancing guidelines.
