Leroy Lee Harris

Mr. Leroy Lee Harris departed this life on Thursday, December 3, 2020 at home. Mr. Harris fought a good fight and is now resting with the King. He was born in Halifax County, Virginia on June 18, 1947 to the late Ralph and Anna Belle Harris.

Leroy attended Halifax County Public Schools. He accepted Christ at a young age and was a member of Mt. Pleasant CME Church, Halifax, Virginia.

Leroy was a man of few words. He loved to fish, cook, tell old stories, and fix things around the house. Leroy was loved by many and had the heart of a lion.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Leroy Harris was preceded in death by his three brothers, Ras Thomas (Boochie) Harris, Willie Reed (Bill) Harris, John (Cake) Harris, and Robert (Fats) Harris; one daughter, Elizabeth Fleming; and one granddaughter, Michelle Womack.

Leroy leaves to cherish his memories to one son, Mr. Sherman Womack of Woodbridge, VA.; one daughter, Loretta Hill of Richmond, VA.; four granddaughters, Ms. Sasha Lassiter and Salita Lassiter both of Washington D.C.; and Joy Palmer and Angel Womack both of South Boston, VA.; one brother, Mr. Charlie Harris (Mattie) of Albany, NY; and one sister, Ms. Mary Harris of Vernon Hill, VA. ; three aunts, Mrs. Dorothy Ballard of Trenton, NY, Mrs. Mable Harris of Albany, NY, and Mrs. Betty Hill of West Point, VA.; one uncle, Mr. Leroy Hill of Trenton, NY; one sister- in –law, Dorothy Harris of Vernon Hill, VA.; and a host of other relatives and friends including a devoted niece, Mrs. Kiara Branch of South Boston, VA ; and special friends, Mr. Sherman Williams, Mr. Clinton Edmonds, Mr. Jody Ferrell, Mr. Michael Palmer, Adam Hankins, and Mr. Robbie Farmer - All of whom he loved and touched deeply.

Viewing for Mr. Leroy Lee will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 from 5pm to 7pm and Thursday, December 10, 2020 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the J.L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment – Danville, Virginia.

Drive in celebration of life service for Mr. Leroy Lee Harris will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mt. Pleasant CME Church 7184 Mountain Rd. Halifax Virginia 24558.   Rev. Evon Bush, Pastor, Officiating, Eulogist .

Family and friends are asked to assemble at the residence 1130 Wilson Memorial Trail Vernon Hill Virginia at1:00 p.m. on the day of the service.
