Mr. Billy Steve Gunn

Billy Steve Gunn, age 86, entered God’s eternal rest on Monday, July 24, 2023, at SOVAH Hospital, Danville, VA.

 Billy was a native of Danville, VA.  He was born on June 21, 1937, to the late Charlie W. Gunn and Lillian B. Davis Gunn in Pittsylvania County, VA.

Billy was educated in a two room school in Pittsylvania County. The teacher’s names were Mrs. Spencer and Mrs. Green.  After leaving school, Billy  went to work on the farm and worked a second job at Douglass Fertilizer Plant on Route 360.  During that time, he met his first love, Mary F. Walton.  Billy and Mary married on April 23, 1955, and had seven children.

He was preceded in death by four of his children, Victoria Gunn, Frances J. Gunn, Beverly J Gunn and Hope A Gunn; and grandson, Dennis W. Gunn.

Billy leaves to cherish his precious memories, his children, Lavern L. Gunn, Starlette M. Allen(David), and Steve M. Gunn(Sheila); two brothers, Bobby Lee Gunn and David Lee Gunn, three sisters-in-law, Mary Ruth Gunn, Frances Gunn and Fannie Lemear Perkins; nine grandchildren, David E. Allen, Jr., Janis C. Anderson, Steven D. Gunn, Bryan C. Allen, Tiara R. Mobley, Angela H. Allen, Candace R. Mobley, Michael R. Mobley and Kimberly R. Mobley; five great grandchildren, Taniya D Gunn, Amari E. Allen, Amir E. Allen, Jaxson Z. Allen, and Angel T. Brown; and a host  nieces, nephews,  other family members  and friends.

Celebration of Life Services for Mr. Billy Gunn will be held Sunday, July 30, 2023, 2:00 P.M. at Celestial Deliverance Holiness Church, 12 Bethel Court, Danville, Virginia, Pastor Joseph Reynolds, Eulogist and Lady Tammy Reynolds, Presiding.  Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park. A public viewing will be held one hour prior to service.

The family is receiving relatives and friends at the residence, 431 Rice Street, Danville, Virginia. 

Masks are required at all visitations and services.
