Mr. Dathan L. Woodson

Mr. Dathan L. Woodson of 9102 Edmonston Court, Greenbelt, Maryland, entered eternal rest Monday, May 11, 2026, at Inova Fairfax Hospital, Falls Church, Virginia.

Dathan was born in Danville, Virginia on June 5, 1990, to the late Rick Woodson and Emma Gunter who survives. He also was preceded in death by his Grandmother Rose Ann Gunter.

Dathan was educated in the Danville City Schools System.

Dathan leaves to cherish his memories, his son, Jalaydn Mekai Woodson; two brothers, Anthony Woodson and Jonathan Blackstock; two sisters, Whitney Gunter and Danika Skipwith; a special aunt, Angela Adams; special cousins, Keshawn Hairston and Kwalesha Hairston; his best friend, Donta Wilson; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends. 

Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of J.L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment, 447 Old South Main Street, Danville Virginia.  Pastor Elect KeAunte Clements of the Level Run Baptist Church, Hurt, Virginia, Eulogist.

A private burial will be held at a later date.

A public viewing will be held on Saturday one hour prior to the service.

The family is asked to assemble at the funeral home on the date of the service at  1:45 p.m.
