On Wednesday, January 19, 2022 Jessie James Martin, Sr., entered into eternal rest at Piney Forest Health and Rehabilitation Center Danville, Virginia.
Jessie was born on Tuesday, May 11, 1954 in Pittsylvania County. He was the son of the late Ecker Martin and late Josephine Carter.
Mrs. Alberta Martin-Townes his beloved Aunt raised Jessie after his parents passed away. Jessie attended Pittsylvania Co. Public School and later received his General Educational Development.
He was employed at Lane Company of AltaVista, Virginia for twenty-one years, Old Southern Furniture two years and later Nestle` Company of Danville, Virginia prior to his declining health.
Jessie was united in Holy Matrimony on Friday, October 17, 1975 to Patricia Ann (White) Martin for forty-two years of marriage until June 2017 and in this union they were blessed with one daughter and one son.
Jessie had accepted Jesus Christ into his life and he attended Shockoe Missionary Baptist Church of Java, Virginia until his health prevented him from participating even though he was not a member of Shockoe.
Those he leaves to cherish his memories children: Jessie Martin, Jr., (Tonya)of Dry Fork and Melissa Martin of Java; Seven Grandchildren; three Great Grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces –nephews , other relatives and friends.
Celebration of life service for Mr. Jessie James Martin, Sr., will be held on Monday, January 24, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at the J. L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment- Danville Virginia. Pastor Sylvester Townes of Truth and Worship Outreach Ministries Danville Virginia, Officiating.
The family is asking that relatives and friends assemble at the J. L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment Danville, Virginia at 1:45 P.M. on the day of service.
