Mr. Joe William Stone

Mr. Joe William Stone, of 3300 Henry’s Mill Road, Vernon Hill, Virginia, entered eternal rest on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Sovah Health in Danville, Virginia.

Joe was the son of the late Mr. Richard “Turk” Stone and the late Ms. Dorothy Mae Stone. He was educated in the Pittsylvania County Public School System. He faithfully served at Ebenezer Baptist Church as a Trustee. He was dedicated to his career, working for 40 years for Commodore Mobile Homes. He was married to Mrs. Bernice Stone, who survives.

To know Joe was to love Joe. He never met a stranger and enjoyed spending time talking and laughing with whomever he came into contact with. He was the type of person that would give you the shirt off his back. His love language for his family and friends was his dedication and dependable spirit. It was nothing for him to extend a helping hand or offer wise counsel to those around him.

Joe enjoyed life and wanted everyone around him to enjoy life to the fullest. He was known for his strong work ethic, his commitment to his faith, and his unwavering devotion to his loved ones. He loved fishing, hunting, and outdoor work, and everyone knew that he was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan. He possessed a warm smile that will truly be missed.

Joe leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Mrs. Bernice Stone; four children, Ms. Kim Stone, Ms. Christy Stone, Mr. Joseph Stone and his wife, Olivia, and Ms. Frenita Beck and her husband, Dexter; a godson, Carl Davis III; a very close friend, Johnny Marable; three brothers, Mr. Lawrence Stone, Mr. Leslie Stone, and Mr. Danny Stone; one bonus brother, Mr. Gene Clark; four sisters, Mrs. Marjorie Faulkner, Mrs. Patricia Fitzgerald, Ms. Melinda Hightower, and Ms. Marcia Stone; four grandchildren, Zhane Stone, Teyonna Britton, Aiden Stone, and Jaden Stone; four great-grandchildren, Landen, Logan, Shauntae, and JiZanni; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.

Celebration of Life Services will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 13412 Halifax Road, Java, Virginia. Pastor Jasper Cheek will serve as Eulogist, and Pastor Ben Elliott of New Vernon Baptist Church, Halifax, Virginia, will serve as Officiant.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

A public viewing will be held one hour prior to the service.

The family will receive friends at the residence of his daughter, Ms. Christy Stone, 417 Wheatley Road, Danville, Virginia.

The family is asked to assemble at the residence on the day of the service at 11:45 a.m.
