Mr. Leon Bowe

Leon Bowe, age 82, entered into eternal rest on June 18, 2023 at Riverside Health and Rehabilitation Center in Danville, Virginia.

Leon was born on June 11, 1941 in Danville, Virginia to the late James Bowe Sr. and Sadie Bell Graves Bowe. He was educated in the Danville Public School System. He retired from Gypsum Plant in Danville.

Leon was a man of very few words yet had a very sweet smile.  He was quiet, meek, and humble, while it saddens each of our hearts, it also brings consolation to know he is no longer suffering.

Leon was predeceased by his parents, James Bowe, Sr. and Sadie Bell Bowe; eight siblings, Mary Frances, Nancy, James M, Henry Lewis, James Jr., Olander Bowe, Barbara Jones and Hazel Williams.

Leon leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Adell Bowe; a daughter, Wendy Hartwell of Newport News, Virginia; six children of Danville, Virginia; a brother, Joseph Bowe of Danville, Virginia; two grandchildren, Li’ Darius and Kimora Edmonds of Newport News, Virginia; a host of grandchildren, relatives and friends.  He also leaves behind a very loving and devoted care giver.

Celebration of Life Services for Mr. Leon Bowe will be held Friday, June 23, 2023, 11:00 A.M. at J. L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment, 447 Old South Main Street  Danville, Virginia. Rev. Sherita Jennings, Officiating.   Interment service will follow in the  Oak Hill Cemetery 100 Walters Mills Road Danville, Virginia.

A public viewing will be held Thursday, June 22, 2023 from 5 pm – 7 pm  at J. L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment, 447 Old South Main Street, Danville, Virginia 24541.

The family is receiving relatives and friends at the residence of his wife Mrs. Adell Bowe 138 Ross Street   Danville, Virginia  and will assemble at 10:00 A.M. on the day of the service.
