Mr. Roy Williamson "Spud"

Mr. Roy Williamson known as “Spud” entered into eternal rest suddenly on Friday, September 22, 2023 in Danville, Virginia.

He was the son of the late Matthew “Mack” Williamson and Helen Lipscomb Williamson of Caswell County, North Carolina.

Roy enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.  He especially enjoyed riding his moped.  Roy loved the spending time at his brother’s Danny house, where he enjoyed laughing and enjoying life especially during family gatherings.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Matthew and Helen Williamson; one sister, Evelyn Evans, and two brothers, Donald “Duck” Williamson and Freddie “Sambo” Williamson.

Roy leaves to cherish his memories, two daughters, April Townes (Cory) and Amy Williamson both of Danville, Virginia; three grandchildren, Jah’Ray Williamson, Zaria and Zoey Townes all of Danville, Virginia; four sisters, Helen Jean Pride of Providence, North Carolina, Sherdinia Jeffreys (Bernard) of Milton, North Carolina, Janie Willis (Hurley) of Blanch, North Carolina and Janice “Figgy” Williamson of Greensboro, North Carolina; one brother, Danny Williamson (Janett) Yanceyville, North Carolina; five nieces, three nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you:  not as the world giveth, give unto you.

Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Celebration of Life services will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at J. L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment, 447 Old South Main Street, Danville, Virginia. Pastor Gary Williams, Sassafras Grove Baptist Church, Presiding.  Rev. Claude Walker, Associate Minister, Allen’s Chapel Baptist Church, Eulogist.

A public viewing will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023 at J. L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment, 447 Old South Main Street, Danville Virginia from 5 pm until 7 pm.

The family is asked to assemble at 3:45 p.m. at the funeral home on the day of the service.
