Mr. Thermo Younger, Sr., age 58, entered into eternal rest at his residence on Friday, February 10, 2023 surrounded by family and friends.
Thermo was born April 22, 1964 in Newark, New Jersey to the late Albert and Gracie Anderson Younger. At an early age, Thermo moved to Danville, Virginia, where he grew up and spent all of his adult life.
In 1982, Thermo graduated from George Washington High School. Thermo will be remembered for playing recreational pool and basketball with close friends and relatives. After fulfilling his secondary education, he worked for Dan River Mills for many years and was well known throughout the mill to be a hard worker who minded his business. He continued to work at Dan River Mills, like his father, Albert Younger, until the plant shut down. He then worked for Culputect Company in Danville, Virginia, where he finally retired due to his cancer diagnosis.
Thermo was known to be “the life of the party” amongst his family and friends. He enjoyed playing music, dancing, fishing, and eating seafood cuisine. He also enjoyed reading and particularly the Bible or “The Good Scripture” as he would call it. While he may have been known to have a good time in life, he also strengthened his relationship with God. During his later years, he courageously battled cancer and fought as long as possible. Thermo was notoriously known to be a fighter, determined, steadfast, and our memories of him will live on forever.
He was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Gracie Anderson Younger and a brother, Sherman Younger.
Thermo’s legacy will be carried on by his wife, Joann Younger; three sons, Thermo Willis, Scott Long, and Thermo Younger, Jr.; a daughter, Pilanda Curry (Russell); six grandchildren, Thermo Will’s daughter and son, Thermo Younger Jr.’s daughter and son, Celebrity Younger and Cali Younger, Pilanda’s daughter and son, Kennedy Curry and Jaydon Curry; a host of loved family members and life long friends.
