Frances Jerone Gunn, age 64, entered God’s eternal rest on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at Cone Health Annie Penn Hospital Reidsville, NC.
Jerone was a native of Danville, VA. She was born on December 16, 1958, to Billy Steve Gunn and Mary Frances Coleman. She was the 3rd oldest of 8 children.
Jerone later moved to the Washington, DC area and was educated in the Washington, DC Public Schools System. In June of 1977, she graduated from Ballou High School. Jerone also worked numerous jobs to include GSA, The Capital Center, McDonalds, and Motorola Solutions for over 27 years. These jobs were all in the Washington, DC and Prince Georges County Area.
Following that, she was then employed with St. Mary’s Detention Center in Leonardtown, MD. There she worked as a Senior Administrator Coordinator and proudly retired in 2021.
"Rone", as family affectionately called her, enjoyed serving the Lord in any way he called her to do. She was baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost in the year of 1975.
She attended Greater Morning Star Church until moving to Calvert County in 2005. She then served as a missionary at Mt. Gethsemane Holiness Church.
On, January 8, 1990, she was blessed with her only baby girl Janis Ciara Anderson, who became her heartbeat for life. Although they were mother and daughter, they were best friends!
She lived for her baby girl; they formed a special unique unbreakable bond. With wanting the best for her child, she also loved spending time with her family such as her nieces, nephews and friends as much as she could. She made friends wherever she went. Rone also loved to travel whenever she got the chance. She was pleasantly known for her biggest smile that would brighten up the room and make your heart melt.
She was predeceased in death by 3 sisters, Hope Gunn, Victoria Gunn, and Beverly Gunn-Martin, and by a nephew, Dennis Wayne Gunn.
Jerone leaves to cherish her precious memories, her beloved father, Billy Steve Gunn of Danville, VA; mother, Mary Frances Walton Coleman of Washington, DC; a daughter, Janis Ciara Anderson of Great Mills, MD; siblings, Lavern Gunn of Washington, D.C; Starlette Marie Allen (David) of Upper Marlboro, MD ; Steve Gunn (Sheila) of Brooklyn, NY; and Leslie Christian (Carlos Jr.) of Ft.
