Mrs. Peggy Jean Waller Deshazor

July 15, 1958 - February 03, 2022

Our beloved sister in Christ, Peggy Jean Waller Deshazor was picked from God’s beautiful garden on February 3, 2022 at about 3:58 pm. A flower that we will all miss but forever have in our hearts.  She was born July 15,1958 to the late Eugene Howard Waller and Mary Thompson Waller who predeceased her. Peggy was the oldest of the three Waller girls; Debra Waller Beard (Lawrence) and Annie Belle Waller Tucker.

After taking care of her mother, Peggy tied the knot in love and marriage with a wonderful man Lester Deshazor and became the mother to two handsome boys, Lester Deshazor Jr. and Issac Deshazor “Hun” and a daughter Rhonda Mays. They all had such a special love. After uniting with her husband, Peggy gained six brother -in laws, Raleigh Deshazor (Ruby) from Richmond, VA, Lawrence Deshazor (Sylvia), Lonnie Deshazor (Betty), all from Ringgold, David Watkins (Jannie), and James Deshazor from Danville, and one sister in law Lenora Lee “Sister” from Danville, VA. She leaves behind a Goddaughter; Amanda Nelson Logan, 2 grandchildren, Byron Walters and PJ Carter, and 2 great grandchildren; Harmoni & Heiress Carter.  Anybody that knew Peggy knows there was a bond that she had with her niece Lakita Beard that she called “Flossy”, and 2 special nephews Marcus Beard (Markell) and A.J. Tucker that could never be explained.  She was more than an aunt to them. She was their rock.  There was a special cousin from Connecticut, Robbie Jeffress whom was like a brother to her from childhood on up. A host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends are left to cherish her memory.

The gift of salvation was received unto her at the tender age of 13 while attending Little Mt Zion Pentecostal Faith Church in Chatham, VA. She served there until marriage when she joined Hackberry Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Hubert Purnell.  Our dear Peggy was quiet in mannerism but she loved God and ushering. She was faithful and dedicated to the ministry. When her sister, Pastor Debra Beard opened a church in Chatham, ( Upper Room Prayer & Deliverance Ministries), she left and joined with her sisters, where she ushered and served on the pastoral board until her health declined.

We can all attest to the dedication and loyalty that Peggy obtained. She was one that would stick with you until the very end. She loved family and church. Christmas was her favorite time of the year and she got a kick out of standing in lines for hours to shop, and there was nothing like a Hallmark movie and piece of chocolate cake to set it off. She always thought the snow was beautiful and said this is the perfect time to watch movies and drink cocoa. You might as well say she wanted to walk in a winter wonderland. Her laugh, her daintiness, must have it all together self, will be missed tremendously. A life well lived and worth celebrating.
