Mrs. Roberta Beasley entered into eternal rest on Friday, January 1, 2021 at her residence. She was a native of Dinwiddie County, Virginia, but spent many years residing in Petersburg, Virginia. Mrs. Beasley was born on August 31, 1932 to the late Ralph and Cassie Johnson in Littleton, NC.
Roberta was first married to the late Mr. Edward Jones. That union was blessed with three children – Jean Campbell, James Jones and the late Sandra L. Hunt. Roberta later married the late Mr. Charlie Beasley. That union was blessed with two children – Daniel Beasley and Herbert Beasley.
Mrs. Beasley retired from Titmus Optical in Petersburg, Virginia with 25 years of service. She was well known for speaking her mind. She also loved spending time with her friends Linda Moore and Crystal Browder (who was always running errands with her and devoting her time).
Roberta was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Sandra Hunt; her brother, Wille B. Johnson; a granddaughter, Pamela Ragsdale; and a niece, Rosetta Johnson.
She leaves to cherish her memories: a daughter, Jean Campbell (Larry) of Matoaca; sons, James Jones (Janet) of North Dinwiddie, VA, Daniel Beasley of North Dinwiddie, VA, and Herbert Beasley of Petersburg, VA; a son-in-law, Samuel Hunt of North Dinwiddie, VA; fifteen grandchildren, Andrew Lee, Jerome Lee, Teresa Lee, Tina Wyatt (Anthony), Melissa Jones (Orlando), Carnell and Cardell Jones, Markisha Campbell, Larry Campbell, Jr., Maurice Campbell, Dominique Jones, Tina Samuels, Jamar McKnight, and Arkell and Kamaree Friend; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and a special first cousin, Mary Ann McWilliams.
A viewing for Mrs. Beasley will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 from 12:00pm to 9:00pm at the J.L Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment – Petersburg, Virginia.
A Funeral service will be held at 12 noon, Thursday, January 7, 2021 at First Baptist Church West Petersburg, 25720 Greensville Ave. North Dinwiddie Va., Rev. Dr. Peter Jeffrey, Pastor, Officiating, Rev. Janet Jones, Eulogist. Interment will follow in Dinwiddie Memorial Park, 7324 Church Road, Dinwiddie, VA
The family is asking that relatives and friends assemble at the church at 11:45 a.m. day of service.
Masks are required at all services and visitations. Attendees are asked to also adhere to social distancing and other CDC guidelines as requested.
