Ms. Marquaitta De'Carola Pinchback

July 02, 1967 - February 07, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marquaitta Pinchback, who departed this life on February 7,2026 at the age of 58.

Marquaitta De’Carola Pinchback was born to the late Edgar William Pinchback Jr. (Buddy) and the late Barbara Banks (Barb). She attended Southside Elementary, Blair’s Junior High School, and Dan River High School before continuing her education at Danville Community College, where she focused on cosmetology and discovered her passion for becoming a professional nail technician.

Marquaitta began her career at Pizza Hut before joining Durham Hosiery Mill full-time. Following the mill’s closure, she worked at Health-Tex and later took on temporary assignments with JTI. In the later years of her career, she devoted herself to caring for others as a caretaker with Angel Wings Home Healthcare and Peace Haven, demonstrating the same dedication and compassion she shared with her family and community.

Marquaitta Pinchback was loving, strong, stylish, and unapologetically herself. She had a sharp tongue when she felt it was needed and never sugarcoated the truth. You always knew where you stood with her. Yet, behind that bold honesty was a woman whose heart belonged completely to her family and friends.  She loved deeply and said it often. “I love you” was never left unsaid. No matter what she was facing, she would reassure those around her with the words, “I’m going to be all right.” Even in challenging seasons, she carried a strength that comforted everyone who loved her.

She had a taste for the finer things in life, from nails, her jewelry and especially an expensive leather purse carried proudly on her arm. She believed in looking good, standing tall (as she could anyway), and walking with confidence and if there was a deck of cards nearby, she was ready. She played to win and every now and then might have bent the rules just enough to claim victory. But those card games were never just about winning; they were about laughter, connection, and time spent together.

In her final year, she leaned deeply into her faith. She spoke often about her relationship with her Bishop and cherished her conversations with Mother Kidd, whom she loved dearly. She shared how easy Mother Kidd was to talk to, always kind, always patient, always praying for her and with her during difficult times. Those moments of prayer and spiritual support brought her comfort and peace. To Pastor and Mother Kidd, she loved you two dearly and we extend our heartfelt gratitude for covering her in prayer and walking beside her with compassion and love.

Left to cherish her precious memories are her siblings, Maraithieon “Mahdi” Pinchback of Danville, VA, and Angela Wilson of Raleigh NC, God-Sister Rosetta Hutchings( Demario Hutchings)NC; her five children, Marques M Pinchback, Marietta L. Brandon (Cadarious Brandon), Tina M, Pinchback, Marquaitta D Pinchback, and Jada M Barber, all of Danville, VA; sixteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two nieces and two nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends who will remember her love, generosity, and vibrant spirit.
