Linwood Tyrone Smith (“Bay”), 65, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, October 1, 2014.
He was a former employee of Maclin, Zimmer MaGill, and was employed at the Petersburg Country Club at the time of his passing. He served in the U.S. Military and was honorably discharged from the United States Army.
Linwood was preceded in death by his parents, the late Robert L. “Smitty” Smith and Thelma A. Smith of Petersburg, Virginia.
He leaves to cherish his memory, seven siblings: Lillian “Rose” Dabney of Chesapeake, Va., Robert L. Lewis of Richmond, Va., Joyce A. Smith and Teresa E. Smith of Petersburg, Va., Deborah K. Blake (Charles) of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Sophia S. Martin of Dumfries, Va., and Rev. Gloria Smith of Richmond, Va.; several nieces and nephews including Sharon Dabney, Ricky E. Lewis, Ricardo L. Dabney, Tameka L. Martin, and Stephen E. Smith; and many friends.
Funeral Services for Mr. Linwood Smith will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at the Chapel of the J.L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment, 25824 Greensville Avenue, Petersburg, Virginia 23803 with the Rev. Dr. Herbert Anderson, Pastor, Sharon Baptist Church, Officiating. Interment will follow in the Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery, Petersburg, Virginia. On the day of the service, family and friends are asked to assemble at 10:15am at the residence of Ms. Joyce A. Smith, 327 South Jefferson Street, Petersburg, Va. Pallbearers are asked to assemble at the funeral establishment at 10:45am.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 from 6pm to 8pm at the funeral establishment.
