Mr. Robert Lewis Jones “Mickey” of Hopewell, Va. entered into eternal rest on Friday, March 27, 2015 at Waverly Health and Rehabilitation Center, Waverly, Va.
Robert was born on December 23, 1938 in Newport News, Va. to the late Henry Jones and Ruth Jones. He received his education in the Hopewell School System, Hopewell, Va and was employed employed by the City of Hopewell, as a Janitor for Hopewell High School.
Robert was a member of Bethesda Bibleway, Petersburg, Va. under the former Pastor, Bishop Beanes. He was one of the original singers of the Lambs of Joy and the Evening Spirituals. He loved to sing and he loved the Lord.
Mickey was preceded in death by his wife, Endia Ann Jones; sisters, Shirley Gholston, Sarah Heart, Mary Ann Jones and Maude Mason; brothers, Peter Henry Jones and John Edward Jones.
He leaves to cherish his memory, three sisters, Geneva Morgan, Geraldine Newby and Rosa Jones all of Washington, DC; one brother, Samuel Jones of Hopewell, Va; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Home going services for Mr. Robert L. Jones will be conducted on Friday, April 3, 2015, 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of J. L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment, 25824 Greensville Ave., Petersburg, Va. (North Dinwiddie County) with Rev. Florence Hollaway, Officiating and Rev. Dr. Herbert Anderson, Eulogist . Interment will follow in Appomattox Cemetery ,703 North 21 Ave., Hopewell, Va.
Public viewing will be on Thursday, April 2, 2015, 7pm to 8pm at the funeral home. On the day of service, family and friends are asked to assemble at 10:45am at the funeral home.
