Mr. Jerome M. Jones 72, of 1844 Fort Rice St. Petersburg, Va. entered into eternal rest on Friday, August 7, 2015 at Southside Regional Medical Center Petersburg, VA.
Jerome was born on October 25, 1942 to the late Edith Jones and Gooden Peebles of Petersburg, Va. He was educated in the Petersburg Public School System and was employed at Walmart Distribution Center, Dinwiddie, Virginia. Jerome joined Mount Olivet Baptist Church at an early age.
Jerome was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Jones; mother, Edith Jones; father, Gooden Peebles; sister, Grace Gainer; four aunts and four uncles.
He leaves to cherish his memories his daughters, Tayuanna L. Jones of Petersburg, Va., Taxisha L. Jones, Kashion H. Jones and Kamal Jones, all of New York; 11 grandchildren, three great grandchildren; one aunt, Katrina Edmunds of Petersburg, Va.; a devoted friend and brother, Stonewall Odom (Marlena);and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Celebration of life service for Mr. Jerome M. Jones will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. from the Trinity Missionary Baptist Church of God In Christ 233 Halifax St. Petersburg, Va., Rev. Jeffrey L. Dodson, Sr. Pastor, Rev. Dr. Ronnie Sidney, Sr. Officiating. Interment will follow in the Hill Family Cemetery, Jarrett, Va. Remains will lie in state at the church one hour prior to service.
Viewing will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2015 from 3pm to 8pm and on Monday, August 17, 2015 from 9am to 8pm at the J. L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment.
The family is asking that relatives, friends and pallbearers assemble at the church on the day of the service at 12:45 p.m. Online condolences may be registered at www.jldodsonandsons.com .
