Mr. Franklin Lamar Smith, 47, of 105 Grigg Street, Petersburg, Virginia departed this life at the VCU Medical Center, Richmond, Virginia.

Lamar was employed at Smith Concrete Company. He was a loving person. He loved to talk, joke and have a good time with family. He also loved his many automobiles. Lamar was an avid Washington Redskins fan.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charlie James Taylor and Mary Alice Taylor.

Lamar is survived by his loving parents: his father, Franklin Daniel Smith, and his mother, Susie Ann Smith of Petersburg, Va.; his son, Troy Smith; his daughter, Shakira Bell; and one granddaughter, Tatyana Smith of Dinwiddie, Va.,; and a host of relatives and devoted friends.

Visitation for Mr. Franklin L. Smith will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2017 from 3:00pm -8:00pm and on Friday, January 6, 2017 from 9:00am to 8:00pm at the funeral home.

Funeral service for Mr. Smith will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017, 12:00 noon, at the Trinity Missionary Baptist Church of God In Christ, 233 Halifax Street, Petersburg, Virginia 23803 with Elder Donald Mitchell, officiating. Interment will follow in Dinwiddie Memorial Park.

Due to inclement weather, the funeral service for Mr. Franklin Lamar Smith has been postponed until Monday, January 9, 2017, 2:30pm, Trinity Missionary Baptist Church.
