Tawanda P. Houp, affectionately known as “Tee”, of 415 Webster Street entered into eternal rest on Monday, April 17, 2017. Tawanda was born on April 18, 1974 to Janet Houp and Charles McDaniel of Petersburg, Virginia.

She was educated in the Hopewell and Petersburg Public School systems. Tee had a love for books and for her family. Tee’s life story was not in vain as it became a testimony to the glory of God.

Tawanda was preceded in death by her great-grandmother, Carrie Shepherd; grandfathers, Oberry Houp,Sr. and Luther Brown; grandmothers, Bertha Houp and Mary McDaniel; uncle, Oberry Houp, Jr. and niece, She’ontae Houp.

She leaves to remember and celebrate her life, her mother, Janet Houp; father, Charles McDaniel; daughter, Jakie Houp; sons, Maurice Epps, Jr. and Jerome Harris Jr.; brothers, James Houp (Lori), Deon Houp (Chyrell), Charles Stevens and Dontrell Stevens; sisters, Samantha Houp, Shamarrow Houp, and Marquita Houp (Buddy); grandson, Darrien Mosby; grandmother, Ann Brown; stepfather, John Brown; uncles, Jerry Houp, Bernard Houp, Timothy Houp, Bradley Houp and Earl(Gwen) Houp, Robert McDaniel, James McDaniel, Tony McDaniel and Kenneth McDaniel, Darrell Stith and Greg Stith, Mark Brown, Sam Brown; devoted aunts, "BFF" Katie Lynch(Daron), Anet Maple (Marcellus), Faye Knight (William), Christine Houp, Tiffany Grandison (Jerome), Wanda McDaniel (Donald), Louise McDaniel, Rose McDaniel, Gloria Briggs, Helen Peace, Gloria Lively (Robert) and Audrey Fisher; special devoted cousin, Kevin Dodson; a special friend, William Coleman (“Hawkeye”); other special friends, Yvette, Lisa, Tosha, "Poo" and Rebecca; devoted family friends, Melinda Baker, Maurice Epps, Sr., Jerome Harris, Sr., Lamont Smith, and Michael Devontenno; and a host of great uncles, great aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A public viewing will be held on Sunday, April 23, 2017 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm and a wake on Monday, April 24, 2017 from 6:00pm to 7:00pm at the J. L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment.

Funeral service for Tawanda P. Houp will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at Shiloh Seventh Day Adventist Church, 310 W South Blvd., Petersburg, Virginia. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, Virginia.

Family and friends are asked to assemble at 307 Elm Street, Petersburg, Virginia at 12:00 noon on the day of the service.
