The Lord has called home one of his beautiful angels who had a heart of gold and love for everybody that came in contact with her. She was the birthday cards lady. If she knew your birthday you would receive a card each year. She is going to be truly missed. Gone but not forgotten.

Dorothy Marie Harris, 81, of 25618 Surry Ave. West Petersburg Virginia entered into eternal rest on May 2, 2017 at her residence surrounded by all that loved her. She was born on June 19, 1935 in Mecklenburg County to the late George Baskerville and Irene Baskerville. She received her education in the Mecklenburg County School System.

Dorothy was a member of Petersburg Church of Christ, formerly High St. Church, Petersburg, Va. She was a bookkeeper at High St. Church of Christ daycare.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold B. Harris; two daughters, Virginia Reese and Diane Baskerville; one brother, Edward Baskerville; and one brother-in-law, Calvin C. Hinton Sr.

Dorothy is survived by two sons, Joseph B. Baskerville and Robert Harris; one daughter , Janice Harris (Douglas); five loving devoted grandchildren, Joseph Reese, Jr. (Denise), Michelle B. Jones (Clarence), MeChonda Reese (David), Alfonza Baskerville and Anthony Harris all of Petersburg; seven great-grandchildren, Shantrice Reese, Breshay Trotter, Matthew Crawford, Joseph Reese III, Amara Baskerville, Alesya Jones and Amina Baskerville; one great-granddaughter, Madison Crawford; her siblings, Ruby Hinton, Carrie Alexander(David), Floyd Baskerville(Sallie), George Baskerville, Jr., Eddie Lee Hinton and Arthur Baskerville; a host of nieces and nephews including devoted niece, Angela Hinton and devoted nephew, Calvin Hinton, Jr.; loving godchildren, Patrick Chavis (Rosalind) and Carlos Haskins(Arquesia) of Petersburg; cousins, and devoted friends, Shirley Johnson Pryor, Cavell Phillips, Wayne Covil, Brenda Butcher, the West Petersburg Community and all her boys that hung at her home everyday, Golden Living Center (Walnut Hill), and anyone she met and sent a Birthday Card; one special friend, Judy Pair of Lexington, South Carolina; and one loving devoted aunt, Elnora Evans.

A public viewing will be held on Thursday , May 4 , 2017 from 5pm to 8pm and Friday, May 5, 2017 at 9am to 8pm at the J. L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment.

Funeral service for Dorothy M. Harris will be held at 11am on Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Petersburg Church Of Christ, 234 North South St., Petersburg, Virginia. Minister Phillip Jones, Sr., officiating. Interment will follow in Dinwiddie Memorial Park , Petersburg, Virginia.

Family and friends are asked to assemble at 25618 Surry Ave., Petersburg, Virginia at 9:45 a.m. on the day of the service.
