Obituary
On December 20, 2022, heaven opened its gates to receive Earl Winfield, Jr. “Donnie” at the age of 68 years old.
Earl was born on January 12, 1954 to the late Earl Nicholas Winfield and Susie Mae Brown Winfield. He was educated in the Sussex County School System.
At an early age, Earl established his spiritual foundation at Pleasant Grove United Church of Christ. As a hard worker, Earl faithfully served in the logging industry for many years, and retired from Jerry Rose Logging Incorporated in Courtland, Virginia.
In “Donnie” spare time, he loved the pleasures of life. He was a kind and generous man. Earl will be loved and remembered by his family, friends and all that knew him.
Earl was preceded in death in addition to his parents, seven siblings; Clarence Winfield, James Marshall Winfield, Clifton Winfield, Pearlie Birchett, Earlean Edwards, Brenda Massenburg and William Winfield, brothers-in-law, William Lowery and Clinton Edwards.
Left to cherish found memories are: four sisters, Lucy Lewis (Clyde) of Portsmouth, Virginia, Nancy Winfield, Gloria Lowery and Janette Winfield, all of Waverly, Virginia; sister-in-law, Melinda Winfield, his fiancé, Shirley Johnson, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
The family wishes to extend a very special thank you to the nurses and medical staff at Maryview Medical Center’s Critical Care and Palliative Care Unit Portsmouth Virginia.
The celebration of life service for Mr. Earl Winfield, Jr. will he held 12:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at J. L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment- Petersburg VA. Elder Ronald Lowery, Refreshing Streams Ministry Petersburg, Va., Pastor, Eulogist, Officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Moriah United Church of Christ Cemetery, Waverly, Virginia.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 26, 2022 from 12p.m. to 7p.m. at J. L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment- Petersburg.
The family is asking that relatives and friends assemble at the funeral home day of service at 11:45a.m.
