Obituary

The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.  Psalm 37:23

Garry Thomas Logan, affectionately know as "Bam Bam” to his family, was called to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 18, 2023.

A dear and loving son, he was born on May 21, 1964 in Danville, VA to the late Charlie M. Logan and survived by his mother, Wilhameena Womack Logan.  Garry was also preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Janika Logan Fluellen and his beloved brother, Ray Charles Logan.

Garry loved his family and wasn't shy in letting them know.  He was a very loving son, father, brother, uncle and cousin.

Garry had a strong spiritual foundation.  At an early age he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and joined Shockoe Missionary Baptist Church, where he was baptized and became a faithful member of the Sunbeam Choir.

Garry was educated in Pittsylvania County Public Schools and a 1982 graduate of Dan River High School. He continued his education at Virginia State University in Petersburg VA.

Garry loved being active in his community.  One of his first jobs was being a campaign member for the 64th governor of Virginia; the honorable Chuck S. Robb.  Later Garry acquired an interest in culinary arts.  He departed his life as a chef at Mama’s Kitchen in Richmond, VA. He will always be remembered as a great communicator, a beam of light and a person full of determination.

Gary leaves to cherish his loving memories: two sons, Marcus  D. Hairston and Jamar Logan Fluellen of Danville, Va; two daughters, Sherese Roush of Long Beach, CA; and Macyn Logan of Lancaster, PA; two brothers, Timothy Logan (Annette) of Richmond, VA, and Bishop Elmer Eugene Logan (Terry) of Fredericksburg, VA; four sisters, Gazetta Logan of Durham, NC, Brendolyn Synder of Danville, VA; Matilda Frances Lynch (Sylvio) and Donna Marie Logan of Fairfax, VA; one nephew and three nieces, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
