Mr. George W. Minter "Buck"

September 11, 1958 - September 3, 2021

On Friday, September 3, 2021, at SOVAH Health in Danville, Virginia, our beloved George Willis Minter departed this life suddenly.

George was born on September 11, 1957 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia to the late George Washington Minter, Sr. and Dorothy Ran Keen Minter. During his life he attended Pittsylvania County Schools until he was unable to due to his disability. George was baptized at Trinity Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. William Dixon and later moved his membership to Baptist Christian Fellowship Ministries under the leadership of Rev. William Dixon.

Buck, as he was affectionately known, was a dedicated member of his church even throughout the pandemic. If the doors were open, he was there. Buck was everyone’s uncle. When you came over his house once, you’d want to keep coming. That’s how much love he had for everyone – nobody was ever turned away.

George was preceded in death by his parents, George Washington Minter, Sr. and Dorothy Ran Keen Minter; two sisters, Dorothy Louise Tarpley (Ted Tarpley) and Carrie Inez Stone (Willie Stone); and one brother, Gilbert Ray Keen Minter.

Those left to cherish his memories are two children, Tavis Minter of Hurt, VA, and George Minter II of Roanoke, VA; one sister, Patricia Ann Pool (Arthur Pool) of Danville, VA; his fiancé , Joyce Ann Niblett of Danville, VA; three step children; two grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
